Practical dog training

Practical courses for dog owners are offered in German, English and French.

program

  1. Monday (from mid-August 2025)

  2. Time: 6 PM - 7 PM

  3. Location: City of Zurich

  4. Duration: 60 minutes (6 lessons)

Learning objectives (§ 13 HuV)

  1. Promoting bonding and relationships

  2. Recognizing and understanding the dog's body language

  3. Ability to provide basic dog training

  4. Humane handling of animals in challenging situations

  5. Teaching methods for muzzle training

Target group (dog legislation from June 1, 2025)

  1. For all dogs that are newly acquired or newly move to the canton of Zurich, there is a mandatory practical dog training course (at least 6 lessons) with uniform learning objectives.

  2. Practical dog training begins at the earliest after the dog has reached six months of age and must be completed no later than twelve months after the start of dog ownership or moving to the canton of Zurich (https://www.zh.ch/de/umwelt-tiere/tiere/haustiere-heimtiere/hunde/aenderung-ausbildungspflicht-hunde.html).

  3. For all dog owners and all people who are interested.

Course fees

  1. 6 lessons at CHF 40.00 each (total CHF 240.00)
